The reason that I decided to explore these 3 out of the rest in the brief is because I felt that these topics would be the most effective starting points for the way I work, which is through surrealism and bright colours. I knew immediately that manipulating images and developing my Photoshop skills would be the most appropriate for these three topics, as I could add Photoshop splashes under the topic Water, use multiple exposure under the topic People and Possessions, and create artistic advertisements under the topic pattern. I have decided to pursue the starting point Pattern out of the all however, as I felt this was the topic that would allow me to explore many ideas I have brewing in my mind. For those that I brainstormed with Water, I would be able to explore in pattern, as water creates patterns. For what I brainstormed with People and Possessions, I felt I would come to a dead end at some point, as I couldn't see me developing many sub-topics under this topic. With Pattern, I knew that I would be able to explore food, which is something that I enjoy being creative with. I also knew that I'd be able to explore face paints and lip art, something that I have been extremely interested in experimenting with. Another positive factor of choosing this topic is that I'll be able to create surreal images that don't all have to make sense, I could go from book photography to food photography to flower photography to architecture photography - just so long as there is always an evident strong pattern that I am capturing.
